5 Effective Ways of Taking Kratom

Like any other drug, you’d probably want your Kratom intake to be effective and enjoyable. Most (perhaps majority) herbs don’t taste good–truth be told–and Kratom is no stranger to this.

Kratom has been making its rounds on social media and the Internet. Users of this herb reported positive effects on the body. Users also claim that Kratom aids in pain management, boost energy, and eases depression or anxiety.

Southeast Asians have been using Kratom leaves for centuries. In fact, Kratom grows naturally in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea.

The popularity of this herb has generated curiosity for many people. However, Kratom received a lot of criticisms as well.

Kratom is known for its “mind-altering” effects. “Mind-altering” might be a colorful term, but in this case, it simply means that this herb creates different sensations when consumed.

Reports about Kratom intake show that it has “morphine-like” sedation. Other reports also show “cocaine-like” effects in the body.

These reports have become a concern for some people in the United States. Can Kratom be abused? That is still a question that is yet to be answered. Fortunately, Kratom is still legal in the United States, and you could always try this herb for recreational purposes.

Speaking of recreational purposes, below are different ways of Kratom intake that could be the best way to ingest this herb.

Toss and Wash

Probably the most common Kratom intake method, toss and wash (T&W) is pretty similar to the alcohol and chaser tandem.

If you drink alcohol, especially rum, you might have encountered people drinking it with a chaser. Chasers come in different kinds and flavors. The only purpose of a chaser is to mask the taste of the alcohol in your mouth to prevent puking.

The T&W method is by far the simplest, most comfortable, and fastest way of taking Kratom. Before you go to the tossing and washing, decide first if you’d like to toss the Kratom powder at the top of your tongue or under.

Just beware; the taste of Kratom is not pleasant at all. The on-the-tongue route is probably for the strong-willed people who simply want to drink Kratom the fastest way they can.

T&W works by first putting the Kratom powder on your mouth and then washing it with a beverage.

You can also take Kratom by dissolving the powder in water and drinking a chaser afterward. This way is pretty much similar to the alcohol-chaser tandem. But remember, you should not consider soda as an option for chaser here. Mixing carbonated drinks with Kratom is not advised.

The Kratom Tea Method

Who likes a cup of Kratom tea here? If you find the T&W method a bit challenging for your preference, the tea method of Kratom intake may appeal more to you.

Kratom leaves or powder can work in this method. To make Kratom tea, boil Kratom powder or leaves for 30 minutes. If you’re using Kratom leaves, make sure you have a strainer to filter out the leaves. The same rule applies if the Kratom powder you will use is not water-soluble.

Once finished, you could drink Kratom tea on its own. Aside from that, you could also add cream, sugar, milk, or sweeteners to reduce its bitterness.

The advantage of this method is that you could experiment in more ways and add more flavors to your Kratom drink. Are you a fan of iced tea? Then, maybe you can make your Kratom tea cold during a hot afternoon.

Aside from that, you could also make your own Kratom milk tea. Wouldn’t that be great? If its bitter taste is your concern, then this method may be ideal for you since you can mask the bitterness with sugar or other sweeteners.

This method enhances the stimulating sensation of Kratom. It is best to take Kratom tea on an empty stomach to achieve a better effect.

DIY Kratom Mixture

The major problem in drinking Kratom tea is that the bitter taste is not completely masked. Also, if you’re not a tea person, then there is a great possibility that you will not like the taste of Kratom tea.

If Kratom tea doesn’t suit your preference, then you can try your own Kratom drink mixture.  The fundamental principle in a do-it-yourself Kratom mixture is to mask the bitterness as much as possible.

In making your own Kratom drink, the first step is to get Kratom extract from the powder. The Kratom powder is not soluble like instant coffee. Kratom leaves can work, but this will entail more work since you still need to boil and filter the leaves.

Once you get the extract, mix it with any beverage of your choice. You can mix it with juices, yogurt, protein shakes, smoothies, etc. The list goes on and on.

Yogurt is good for masking the bitterness of Kratom. However, the drink you should use should also depend on your preferred flavor.

In mixing your DIY Kratom drink, make sure that the bitter taste in your DIY mixture is tolerable. Just remember that your mixture should not completely overpower the bitter taste if you’re on a strict diet plan. For example, adding too much sweetener may not be advised especially if you’re required to have lesser sugar or milk intake.

  • It can be prepared according to your preferred choice of flavor

.

Pros

  • It may slow down the onset of Kratom, but this depends on your choice of flavors to mix

Quid Method

If you’re looking for a past time activity with Kratom, this method is a good one. With this method, you just need to be prepared to handle the bitter taste.

The quid method is popular in Southeast Asia. Consuming Kratom in this method is done by chewing fresh Kratom leaves and keeping it in your mouth.

However, this method cannot be done by people who currently reside in western countries.  The quid method can be done if you have fresh Kratom leaves. It means that you should chew the leaves immediately after picking. Also, in choosing this method, you should not forget to wash the leaves before chewing.

The Kratom extract mixes with your saliva during the chewing process. It’s important that you remember that you shouldn’t swallow the leaves immediately. Just keep chewing until all the extract has been ingested. Spit out the remaining leaves after chewing.

The quid method promotes a fuller stimulating effect on the body. This is because the Kratom extract is directly taken upon chewing the leaves. As opposed to cooking or further processing, the strength of the Kratom extract is not reduced.

This method of Kratom intake is unconventional. Aside from that, only a few can honestly tolerate the bitterness of Kratom. Can you endure the bitterness? If you can, then you should try this method!

Pros

PROS

  • It has the most potent effect since no cooking or processing is involved
  • Its onset is the fastest among other methods

.

Pros

CONS

  • With this method, you can fully taste the bitterness of Kratom
  • It may cause nausea or stomach problems
  • It is not readily available in most countries

Capsule Method

If the taste of Kratom bothers you, then maybe the capsule method is your best bet in the different methods of Kratom intake.

This method is easy and tasteless. All you need to do is swallow the capsule, and you’re good to go. No need to worry about avoiding the bitter taste of Kratom.

However, Kratom in the form of capsules creates a negative image of the herb. It is essential to keep in mind that Kratom is not a drug. Thus, Kratom capsules and tablets may taint the image of Kratom in general.

The only significant disadvantage of this method is the dosage. A small capsule can carry around 0.5 grams of Kratom powder. You might find yourself swallowing two or more pills in this method.

Pros

PROS

  • It is tasteless and easy to consume

.

Pros

CONS

  • It is expensive
  • It may require larger or more capsules per intake depending on the dosage
  • It slows down the onset of Kratom

The Tea Method: My Personal Favorite

With the given methods of Kratom intake above, you may now be wondering which of these is the most effective.

In comparing the five different methods, the taste is an issue for all except for the capsule method. From the options above that I have already tried, I can say that the tea method is the most effective, but not efficient method. It is also my personal favorite, by the way.

The tea method enhances the stimulating sensation of the Kratom herb. However, it is not the most efficient since the preparation time for Kratom tea takes long. Yet, the faster onset still outweighs this disadvantage.

If you also prefer to drink Kratom tea among the other options, a time saver tip  I could give would be to cook Kratom tea in large batches. Just keep the Kratom tea frozen for future consumption. This is what I also do to save time. It’s also more convenient this way if you prefer to drink an iced Kratom tea.

Whether you choose one method over another, keeping your dosage safe should be your priority. Mentioned above are the best ways I’ve tried so far. I hope that this could help give you an idea of the best method of Kratom intake that will fit your preference.
